2022 is going to be a really big year for me. I’m Kenya and I’m not entirely sure what this year is going to be like. I have my a levels, university, travelling, turning 18 all in this crazy period of time we’re in. There are so many opportunities and ideas I could potentially pick, but i’m not sure which one. I also have my more personal goals (which i’m not going to call resolutions because I would never get them done) such as trying new things, doing more self care days and generally just taking time to experience things more instead of just rushing through my day. In a way my “priorities” feel superficial but I think they’re things I want to try and most experiences will help me grow as a person.

In the short term I’d like to become a morning person with a bit of a routine as I think it will make life easier for me. If you don’t know about notion, this is literally what I use to organise my life and just about remember everything. I think it’s easy to download all of these apps but I’m actually going to start using it this year, hopefully. I also want to improve my timekeeping and punctuality as towards the end of last year I began to lose interest in the most simple tasks and wouldn’t have any motivation to do them. The best way I can get out of that mindset is to listen to music – it can be anything but after a few minutes I’m already in a good mood.

Tip: set your alarm as a music playlist followed by a normal alarm so you’re not waking yourself up suddenly

Apart from academics, this year I also want to continue learning Spanish. One of the most valuable skills is to definitely be able to speak a different language and I enjoy Spanish culture especially the music and I want to be able to understand a song without google translating lyrics every time. This list may be getting long but I think I missed out on a lot of things i’m passionate about last year and now i’m attempting to make up for it.

One definite goal this year is to travel across Europe in the summer! I think travelling without any worries or pressure is what I aspire to do and just enjoy the experience. The list of cities/countries so far include: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Barcelona, Paris, Luxembourg, Geneva, Berlin, Copenhagen, Milan, Venice, Rome and I won’t go on because there’s about 30 on this list.

Hopefully you have an idea of what you want to achieve and experience this year and good luck with all your adventures and challenges that will come this year. ¡Feliz año nuevo!
