In 2018, Kerry bought a sewing machine and taught herself how to sew, handcrafting Kente print cushions & hair accessories for her family and friends. When the demand became more & more frequent, she expanded to introduce Black Excellence Prints made with upcycled materials from her other projects. When starting her side hustle, It was important to her to create a brand to incorporate a way to celebrate icons that have been influential to Black culture.
