Job Description
BelEve is relaunching the Young Leadership Board in September to create a meaningful space for girls and young women to shape the organisation’s work, share their views, and develop leadership skills.
The Board will strengthen BelEve’s commitment to youth voice, participation, and empowerment, while giving members real opportunities to influence programmes, events, communications, and future planning.
The Board will:
Ensure young people’s voices influence BelEve’s decisions and direction.
Build confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills through the youth leadership board.
Create a consistent system for capturing and responding to feedback from girls and young women.
Develop future leaders who are connected to BelEve’s mission and values.
Strengthen accountability by making sure the organisation reflects the views and experiences of the young people it serves.
Role & Responsibilities
As a member of the Young Leadership Board you will:
Attend regular board meetings at the BelEve office and contribute your views and ideas.
Help shape BelEve’s programmes, events, and communications from a young person’s perspective.
Take part in workshops, planning sessions, and leadership activities.
Provide feedback on what’s working well and what could be improved for girls and young women.
Represent the voices of young women in your school/community (without speaking for everyone).
Work collaboratively with other board members and BelEve staff on projects and campaigns.
Complete occasional light tasks between meetings (e.g. short surveys, reviewing materials, sharing ideas).
Candidate Requirements
We’re looking for girls and young women who:
Are aged 14-18 and live in/attend school in Lewisham/Bromley Borough.
Are passionate about making a positive difference for young people.
Want to develop their leadership, communication, and team work skills.
Are comfortable sharing their views and listening to others in a group setting.
Can commit to regular meetings and occasional events at the BelEve office.
Are reliable, respectful, and willing to engage with BelEve’s values and safeguarding expectations.
No prior experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

Time commitment:
Regular board meetings: Once a month at the BelEve office
Occasional workshops, events, and planning sessions
Some flexible tasks between meetings (e.g. feedback, ideas, short tasks)

Payment:
This is a voluntary role however you will receive volunteer expenses
Support & Development:
Induction and ongoing training in leadership, safeguarding, and participation.
