New Deal for Young People Propel Grant

BelEve is thrilled to share that they have received funding from the New Deal for Young People Propel grant. This grant will allow BelEve to provide mentoring support to 100 young people between the ages of 15-22 in 2023/24. 

We BelEve that every young person deserves a Mentor, and we have already with your help been able to support over 6,000 girls and young women since our establishment in 2013. 

We are reaching out to you as we are looking for MENTORS to help and support our beneficiaries explore what career they are interested in, sharing the steps you took in your career journeys, and help them to start thinking about their interests, capabilities, and training needs. 

Our overall aim of this programme is to help girls and young women build a trusted relationship with their mentor, increase their confidence and communication skills, learn about different careers and what interests them, feel able to set some achievable goals around education, new opportunities, and career planning, and learn to network, build new friendships and feel part of a community that listens and makes them feel more valued.

BelEve will provide the following training and support

• Training focused on core skills, safeguarding, and role specifics
• Supervision to ensure that your skills have the maximum impact
• An open-door policy with the invitation to visit us at our office at any time
• Invitations to BelEve social events so all volunteers have the chance to meet and share experiences 
• Opportunities to support BelEve in other ways such as participation in fundraising events

Commitment Level

This is a 6-9 month mentoring programme and we ask that our volunteer Mentors are ideally able to volunteer once a month for 90 minutes. 
There is flexibility between weekend and weekday mentoring sessions.

A DBS will be required to undertake this role

We would like to give all our previous Mentors an opportunity to express an interest in becoming a BelEve Mentor for our 2023/24 BelEve In Her programme before we advertise externally.
