Reclaiming Our Narrative: A Message from the Founders of BelEve

Hey BelEvers,

As the leaves turn and the chill of October sets in, we’re not just welcoming a new season but also stepping into a pivotal time of celebration and reflection—Black History Month. This year, we embrace the theme “Reclaiming Narratives”—a powerful call to action that resonates profoundly with our mission here at BelEve.

At its heart, “Reclaiming Narratives” invites each of us to actively engage with the stories that shape our community, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and honouring our rich and complex heritage. For far too long, the stories of Black people—especially Black women and girls—have been overlooked, misunderstood, or written by those who do not truly represent our experiences. This is why, here at BelEve, we are passionate about ensuring that girls and young women from diverse backgrounds have the tools, platforms, and confidence to reclaim their stories.

BelEve was founded on the vision of three inspirational Black women who understood the power of owning and telling our truths. We are dedicated to amplifying the voices of young women, helping them navigate life’s challenges, and creating safe, empowering spaces where they can thrive. Our work is rooted in the belief that when young women are given the opportunity to explore who they truly are—unfiltered, unapologetic, and powerful—they can create narratives that not only reflect their reality but also inspire future generations.

This Black History Month, we are reminded that the stories we tell today will shape the future for our daughters, sisters, and communities. Let’s continue to champion each other, uplift one another’s journeys, and celebrate the diversity of experiences that make us strong. It’s not just about looking back on history, but about how we can create a future where every voice is heard, valued, and celebrated.

For those keen to dive deeper into the theme “Reclaiming Narratives,” we encourage you to visit the official Black History Month website. Let this be a moment of education, empowerment, and celebration for all of us.

Together, let’s reclaim our narratives—because our stories matter.

With love and empowerment,
The Founders of BelEve
