Small Charities Week: Why the Smallest Voices Can Make the Loudest Impact
This week, we’re proud to be celebrating Small Charities Week – a national spotlight on the work of small, grassroots organisations who make a big difference in communities across the UK.
At BelEve, we know first-hand the power of starting small.
Twelve years ago, BelEve was founded by three sisters following the passing of their mother — their greatest cheerleader. In her honour, they built a charity rooted in belief, love and legacy, with a mission to ensure that every girl and young woman has someone in her corner, cheering her on.
What started as a personal calling has grown into a powerful movement – one that has supported thousands of girls across London and beyond with mentorship, leadership development, career readiness, and personal growth.
Why Small Charities Matter
There are over 160,000 charities in the UK, and nearly 97% are small charities. These organisations might not have the biggest budgets or the most media coverage, but they are often the closest to their communities, the fastest to act, and the most deeply embedded in the lives of those they support.
Small charities like BelEve are:
- Community-led and culturally relevant
- Focused on long-term relationships, not short-term wins
- Built on trust, consistency, and real lived experience
We may not be large in size — but our impact is transformational.
Our Impact So Far in 2025
🚀 Real Impact. Real Stories.
This year alone, BelEve has:
✔ Reached over 3,588 girls
✔ Delivered more than 5,000 hours of mentorship
✔ Supported career insight days across 3 different industries
Behind every number is a young girl stepping into her power: finding her voice, accessing new opportunities, and beginning to believe she can lead.
From the classroom to the boardroom, we are seeing the ripple effects of what happens when girls are encouraged, equipped, and empowered.
What Makes BelEve Different
At BelEve, we:
- Champion girls aged 8–22 from underrepresented backgrounds
- Deliver safe spaces for growth, discussion and personal development
- Provide relatable female mentors from a wide range of industries
- Develop leadership skills through workshops, events and direct mentorship
- Help girls explore career pathways they may never have considered
Our programmes aren’t just about preparing girls for the world. They’re about helping girls shape it.
