Why Resetting Matters for Girls’ Leadership Development 

For many girls, adolescence and early adulthood are shaped by competing expectations: 

• Be confident, but not “too much” 

• Be ambitious, but stay likeable 

• Have a plan, even when you’re still discovering who you are 

These pressures can quietly erode confidence. 

That’s why resetting matters. Within girls’ leadership and empowerment programmes, reflection is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Resetting allows girls to: 

• Release comparison and self-doubt 

• Identify what no longer serves them 

• Reclaim agency over their goals and identity

If you’re reading this as a young person, here’s what I want you to know: 

You do not need to have everything figured out. 
You do not need to change who you are to be worthy of leadership. 
You are allowed to reset as many times as you need. 

Leadership is not about having all the answers. 
It’s about having the courage to keep learning, growing, and believing in yourself.
