Trustee Vacancies (Volunteer)

  • The board has a key impact on whether a charity thrives. The post holders will ensure the implementation of systems and structures for the sustainable, growth and development of BelEve. We are currently recruiting a number of trustees to support the growth and capacity building of this successful Charity.

  • Open Vacancies: Safeguarding Trustee, Marketing Trustee, and HR & Risk Trustee

    Voluntary Position

    Contract term: Minimum of 18 months, Maximum 3 years

    Responsible to: Chair of Trustees

    Overview of role the roles

    Safeguarding Trustee The Safeguarding Trustee is a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of girls and young women who access BelEves’ services. Sitting on the Board of Trustees, the post-holder will shape BelEves’ strategic plans and chair operational meetings to review how staff and volunteers at BelEve are implementing safeguarding measures, collaborating with the CEO and Designated Safeguarding Lead to improve its practices.

    Marketing Trustee The marketing Trustee will Contribute to a marketing/public relations strategy that will allow the organisation to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences including the media and key influencers Develop market position and brand of the charity to girls and young women in order to enable it to fulfill its mission and aims Oversee the ongoing development of the organisation’s marketing and communications strategy in conjunction with management and the board.

    HR & Risk Trustee Human Resources Trustee role will provide experience and knowledge of HR employment law and best practices across the broad spectrum of HR and Organisation Development. Ensure that the charity and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of the Children and Young People sector and in line with the organisation’s governing document, continuously striving for best practice in governance Take appropriate professional advice in all matters where there may be material risk to the charity, or where the Trustees may be in breach of their duties

    The post holders will ensure the implementation of systems and structures for the sustainable, growth and development of the charity.


    ● Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving strategic direction to the charity, setting overall strategy and policy, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets;

    ● Ensure the financial stability of the organisation and the proper investment of the Charity's funds

    ● Ensure the Charity applies its resources exclusively in pursuing its objectives

    ● Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Charity

    ● Safeguard the good name and values of the Charity; declare any conflict of interest while carrying out the duties of a Trustee

    ● Be collectively responsible for the actions of the Charity and other Trustees; Participate in other tasks as arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, helping with fundraising

    ● Attend meetings and sub-committee meetings as appropriate and read papers in preparation for the meeting; Keep informed about the activities of the charity and wider issues that affect its work

    ● Use any specific skills, knowledge, or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions. This will involve scrutinising Board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, and providing advice and guidance requested by the Board on new initiatives, or other issues, to the area of the Charity's work in which the Trustee has special expertise

    Person Specification

    ● Experience in the area you are applying for

    ● A commitment to the vision, mission and core principles of BelEve UK

    ● An understanding and awareness of the role of the youth sector and challenges that girls and young women are facing, particularly those from disadvantaged communities

    ● An ability to relate to the girls and young women BelEve UK

    ● A good understanding of the social, economic, and political context in which BelEve UK works

    ● Ability to communicate effectively both laterally across fellow board members, and hierarchically through the charity operations team and volunteers

    ● The ability and willingness to represent the charity

    ● The confidence and ability to provide support to the management team
