As a BelEve Fundraising Trustee you will help us sustain and grow our income so that we can support all those who need our services. 

You will be joining the charity at an exciting time following a period of growth, which has seen our income, our service capacity, and our volunteers increase. You will be joining a committed team of trustees and a strong brand.

We are looking for someone who would relish the challenge of helping us take the charity to the next level.

Fundraising Trustee (Volunteer)

  • Working closely with The Board of Trustees, the role of the Fundraising Trustee is to oversee the Fundraising division. The post holder will ensure the implementation of systems and structures for the sustainable, growth and development of the charity.

    Voluntary Position

    Contract term: Minimum of 18 months

    Responsible to: Chair of Trustees

    Overview of role

    Working closely with The Board of Trustees, the role of the Fundraising Trustee is to oversee the Fundraising division.

    The post holder will ensure the implementation of systems and structures for the sustainable, growth and development of the charity.

    Key responsibilities:

    ● Advise on fundraising practices as well as providing strategic input in raising funds to meet and surpass fundraising targets

    ● Identify various income streams to support the BelEve brand

    ● Build fundraising strategy, assist in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for BelEve UK.

    ● Suggest applications be made to suitable grant-making trusts

    ● To liaise with other board members, notably finance and corporate where there’s shared interest and opportunities

    ● Advise on core / capital / project costs

    ● Encourage social media links to national campaigns, stewardship of supporters, and social media recognition of funding

    General:

    ● Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving strategic direction to the charity, setting overall strategy and policy, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets;

    ● Ensure the financial stability of the organisation and the proper investment of the Charity's funds

    ● Ensure the Charity applies its resources exclusively in pursuing its objectives

    ● Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Charity

    ● Safeguard the good name and values of the Charity; declare any conflict of interest while carrying out the duties of a Trustee

    ● Be collectively responsible for the actions of the Charity and other Trustees; Participate in other tasks as arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, helping with fundraising

    ● Attend meetings and sub-committee meetings as appropriate and read papers in preparation for the meeting; Keep informed about the activities of the charity and wider issues that affect its work

    ● Use any specific skills, knowledge, or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions. This will involve scrutinising Board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, and providing advice and guidance requested by the Board on new initiatives, or other issues, to the area of the Charity's work in which the Trustee has special expertise

    Person Specification

    ● Experience of working in a charity as a general fundraiser

    ● A commitment to the vision, mission and core principles of BelEve UK

    ● An understanding and awareness of the role of the youth sector and challenges that girls and young women are facing, particularly those from disadvantaged communities

    ● An ability to relate to the girls and young women BelEve UK

    ● A good understanding of the social, economic, and political context in which BelEve UK works

    ● Ability to communicate effectively both laterally across fellow board members, and hierarchically through the charity operations team and volunteers

    ● The ability and willingness to represent the charity

    ● The confidence and ability to provide support to the management team

    Knowledge

    ● Knowledge of general fundraising

    ● General knowledge of charity budgeting and finances

    ● Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office

    ● Empathy with the needs of young people and the work of BelEve.

    ●An understanding of Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies and practices in the workplace
